How does it work?

Once you arrive early at Ala Wai Boat Harbor to check in, you can board the boat and grab a comfortable seat. The boat is small enough that any seat will afford fantastic views. As you set out on the cruise, enjoy the complimentary fresh fruit and soft drinks, and keep your eyes peeled for some amazing marine encounters!

The semi-private setting ensures a comfortable experience with ample space to move around and enjoy the sights. A knowledgeable crew is on hand to provide insights about the area and answer any questions, making it a relaxing and informative journey on the water.

Local expert tips

• Don’t forget to bring your favorite snacks and drinks with you! In addition to the complimentary fresh fruit and soft drinks, you are welcome to BYOB and use the ship’s cooler and ice. Make sure to dispose of your trash in the proper receptacles to keep our oceans clean!
• Ala Wai Boat Harbor is a destination in and of itself, so make sure to stick around after the tour to check out Ala Moana Beach and Magic Island.
• Humpback whales (kohola in Hawaiian) are no longer considered endangered; however, it is illegal to approach them closer than 100 yards. Make sure to bring binoculars or a zoom lens for your close-up looks!
• Best time of the year: Humpback whales begin arriving as early as November, but they don’t all arrive at once. Most of them tend to arrive by January, and the earliest ones will start heading back north in March.
• Recommend attire: Wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a little splashed. Hawaii is known for its warm weather, but it can get a little chilly out on the water, especially in the early morning, so it’s a good idea to bring a light sweater or jacket.
• Recommend items to bring: You’ll want to bring your binoculars and/or your camera, so you can look at the majestic mammals up close! A waterproof case for these is a good idea, as there is always a chance for spray or splashing.

The Ocean Therapy is a 31.4-foot Concord Flybridge Diving & Snorkel Boat designed for aquatic adventures. It features a flybridge for elevated views and a cabin for added comfort. Guests can enjoy seating on the bow, making it perfect for socializing and enjoying the sea breeze. While the boat is equipped with a marine head restroom, it does not include showers. Ideal for all types of ocean excursions, this boat combines functionality with leisure, providing a comfortable and enjoyable experience on the water.
