The Wailua River is a calm water jungle stream in the heart of Kauai and is Hawaii's only navigable river. Tie your kayak to a tree and take a one-mile hike up valley to a dramatic 130-foot waterfall with a pool for a great picnic lunch and refreshing swim. Your guide will be sharing the history of ancient Kauai, how the Ali'i (royalty) and Maka'ainana (common people) lived and played in days gone by, and also about the unique and unusual medicinal and food plants that inhabit the Wailua River Valley, as well as ornamental plants, both native and introduced.
