Check-in at Honolulu International Airport
After your check-in at the Honolulu International Airport, make your way to the gate before your departure. Depending on what time you arrive at the airport, there will time to grab a quick breakfast or freshly brewed coffee from a variety of restaurants and food service areas in the terminal.
Located on Kauai's south shore, the Spouting Horn Blowhole is one of the most popular scenic spots on the island. Created by aeons of sea water going through old lava tubes. when the Poipu waves hit just right, the water can shoot up over 50 feet in the air. Have your cameras ready to snap a pic!
Make your way to the Hanapepe Valley Lookout and witness astonishing panoramic views of a valley cloaked in lush greenery. The quaint town of Hanapepe was also used as a location for many shows and films, and it was even used as a one of the places where Jurassic Park was filmed in Hawaii!
Stop at Waimea Plantation Cottages and enjoy lunch from a popular island restaurant, Chicken in a Barrel BBQ. Take your pick from a variety of lunch choices including options for those looking for a gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan lunch.
Mark Twain nicknamed Waimea Canyon the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" and as you take in the views of this rugged and craggy canyon that stretches over 14 miles long, you will soon see why. This natural landmark is also one mile wide, and goes down 3,600 feet, and is a must see on any visit to Kauai.
Venture down a nature trail in Koke’e State Park for an easy and short hike surrounded by native Hawaiian flora and fauna. The first portion of the hike is a gradual uphill stroll for about 30 yards, before it levels out. It is perfect for all ages, and offers great views from the end of the trail.
If you are looking for a gorgeous view of Waimea Canyon on the beautiful island of Kauai, Puu Hinahina Lookout is the perfect spot! This lookout offers stunning views of the expansive Waimea Canyon, and from this lookout you can see the entire canyon in all its glory. Have your cameras ready!
Kekaha Beach is a beautiful white sand beach with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, the King Kaumuali'i Statue commemorates the last king of Kauai and Niihau, and the Russian Fort at Pā'ula'ula State Historical Park offers visitors a glimpse into Hawaii’s past with its restored 19th century fort.
Although Kona coffee is what most people think of when it comes to Hawaiian coffee, the Kauai Coffee Company is actually the largest coffee grower in the United States, and the warm sun and rich volcanic soil create the perfect conditions for some of the best coffee in the world that you can have.
You will have up to two hours of waiting time at the Lihue Airport before your flight, so be sure to bring some reading material and a charger for your phone. There are places to have a quick bite to eat or tasty beverage, and even small shops to purchase souvenirs before your flight back to Oahu.
Although flight times may change, you will soon be on your way to the island of Oahu after your full day on Kauai. Sit back and enjoy the quick flight, and you will soon be back on Oahu with amazing memories of your time on the Garden Isle of Kauai.
