Stellar!

Posted on: 2014/04/21

It was a very educational tour with a breathtaking view. I just expected astronomy but the tour guide knew a great deal about volcanos, geology and island plant and animal life as well. The guide was awesome and I love taking tours with someone as trained and passionate about his work as this guy was. The food was so-so but it was hot and ready. The bus was cramped but it got us there and had big windows for great viewing. Once at the top, the observatories were incredible to look at as they opened up for evening viewing. The view of the sunset was also breathtaking, and not just from the lack of oxygen on top of the mountain. Once we headed back down for stargazing, our guides did a great job of pointing out astronomy as we used there 11 inch telescopes. Very great tour and highly recommended!

Canyon great, River Cruise so-so

Posted on: 2014/04/21

The tour was great and the guide had a lot of knowledge about Kauai. I was pleased to see how much of the south shore was covered in the tour. I wish they would have gone to the two other lookout points on the canyon before turning back but otherwise the stops were great. The river cruise was a little disappointing and the fern grotto, even though beautiful, wasn't worth the time spent getting there. If I had to do it again, I would just do the tour.

The PCC was great, the tour was so-so

Posted on: 2014/04/21

The circle island tour seemed rushed and we didn't stop anywhere once we passed the Dole Plantation. We basically cruised passed all the beaches on the north shore. Diamondhead was looked at from the front side but nothing was really brought up about it. The things we saw were nice but I wish we would have had more time exploring them. Once we got to the PCC this were great. The performers were top notch and the show was very educational and entertaining. The food was excellent and non-stop. The half day at the PCC was more than enough to see everything I wanted to see. Once the tour guide picked us up, we heard a little too much about his personal life for the hour plus ride home. My recommendation is if you want to see the entire island for a tour, don't include the PCC as a stop and just do it on another day.

It did go around the entire island

Posted on: 2014/04/20

It was nice at first to see that we were being picked up in a motor coach versus a minibus as we were tight in a minibus the day before and the coach had elevated views but with the larger bus, the driver couldn't hear my questions nor my responses to his questions to us. The tour was as expected. The guide was very knowledgable about the island and the stops were appropriate in length. For those looking for an overview of the big island this is the tour for you.

Best whale watch ever!

Posted on: 2014/04/20

I know every whale watch is a different experience but this was the best whale watch cruise ever. The crew was extremely knowledgeable and the captain seem to have a knack to know where they were going to be and how to move into the best position. The boat was two decks and you could move freely between them. It's a bigger boat which some say is worse for fighting for rail space when whales are spotted but I saw a smaller boat next to us and the waves were rocking them almost out of the water while our boat was barely rocking. We got lucky enough to spot two sets of whales and some bottle-nose dolphins even though it was the end of the season. The second set of whales came right up next to our boat and hung around for a while for us to get a really, really close look.

The best dive I ever had

Posted on: 2014/04/20

I SCUBA, my wife doesn't. That was no problem on this cruise. With this cruise, it was one great surprise after another. The crew and ship was incredible, the food was very well done and a lot of it, even though the waves made us have to cancel Molokini, the captain moved us to a better location. Before going in the water they gave all non-divers the option to do and open water experience or to try SNUBA, which are all great ways to try SCUBA. As a diver, it was crazy to think that I didn't have to set up or take down my gear, they just wanted me to dive and have fun! The waters were perfect and the sea turtles were plentiful. When the dive was done the captain happen to spot whales and stopped to watch them for a while. The post dive refreshments were just as nice and the option to buy dive photos/video from a professional videographer was a nice way to take home memories. A+++ Best dive of my life!

Perfect way to open a trip

Posted on: 2014/04/20

It was our first night for our first Hawaii trip and it started it off with a bang! The food was great and we even saw a whale. The music and dancing was a nice touch. The only thing I would have liked was a little longer fireworks show but we can't control that.

Brisk but a great time

Posted on: 2014/04/17

The day started off cooler than expected but the staff was extremely motivating and friendly so I'm glad we did it. A long bumpy ride to the entry site and then they put the tubes in the stream and it was a go from there. The water was brisk but once your butt was numb you hardly noticed anymore. Going through the tunnels was awesome and it felt like and adventure through the jungle. Nothing to worry about as the guides are with you the entire time. A nice healthy lunch in the sun to warm back up and then it was back to the shop. All in all, it was a lot of fun!

Pick up directions not clear

Posted on: 2014/04/08

Our flight was pushed back due to the Mesa Go Airlines pulling out of the Hawaii area. Because of that I called that morning and asked them to push our pickup time back from 11:30 to 12:00. They were very nice and accommodating with the situation. The downfall came when the pickup time came. We were instructed to wait outside the front lobby. We checked out at 11:59 and moved outside the front lobby where we were picked up and dropped off for every other excursion. It was 12:15 when I called the company wondering what was going on. They said the driver was there, waited until 12:17 and left but she would call the driver back. When I explained we've been waiting there the entire time, I asked where I should wait and she said outside by the side of the building, which is where we were the entire time. When the driver did return he apologized and said we were waiting in the wrong spot, we should have been around the back side of the building and that he came into the lobby to find us and even called our room that we already checked out of. The ride to the airport was efficient but the first 3/4 of the ride we got to listen to his phone call to his friend. Finally he started to point things out and asked about our trip. All-in-all he did get us to the airport on time.

They got us to the hotel

Posted on: 2014/04/08

After a very long non-stop from Chicago with a very loud toddler in the seat behind me and a plane with a wifi failure, we were very glad to be on the ground. The greeter was on time a very friendly. The only downside was the bus was delayed from picking up another couple first and their flight was delayed. The wait was only 15-20 minutes but once we got on the shuttle the driver was very nice and informative, almost like a mini tour guide while he drove us to the hotel.
