There are countless things to do in Maui, but there is nothing like snorkeling in Maui! Now you have the option of not only experiencing some of the best snorkeling in Maui, but during the winter months (December through March), you can enjoy whale watching, too. Between April and November, the Pride of Maui will go to either Turtle Town, Olowalu, Coral Gardens or Molokini Crater, depending on the ocean and weather conditions. There you will see countless array of tropical fish, colorful reef and magnificent marine life. Once winter comes to the islands, so do our annual visitors, the humpback whales. In this case, a whale watching will also be included!

Winter Time Whale Watching!

Each winter, the waters of Hawaii become home to thousands of migrating humpback whales. After leaving the cold waters near Alaska, these majestic mammals make their way to Hawaii to give birth and nurture their young. It is estimated that of the 20,000 humpbacks that are in the North Pacific, approximately 60% will come to Hawaii during the winter.

Although the ocean surrounding Hawaii is teeming with fish and marine life, adult whales do not eat anything while they are here and can lose up to 1/3 of their weight while on on their Hawaiian holiday. Instead, the calves that are born will have a steady supply of milk before making their way with their family back to Alaska in April or May.
