A GREAT DAY OUT!

Posted on: 2015/08/03

Wow, what a fantastic day! We arrived at Kualoa Ranch to a wonderful welcome of song and ukulele playing. Everything was planned to perfection. Our ranch and movie set tour was brilliant. We loved the most famous dead tree in the world and the surprise that came with it, (you have to go on this tour to find out)!
Next up was our ATV (quad-biking) adventure. We all loved it, especially our teenage kids! I can only imagine how much fun it would be in the rain as we were covered in dust from head to toe and didn't mind one bit!
Lunch was delicious!
Finally, we took the jungle expedition. Our guide Kaleo was awesome. The jungle truck wound its way across creek beds, along forest tracks to reveal sacred places, spectacular views and more movie sets. A brief stop to enjoy a mountain apple (or 5), yummy - then it was back to base. A quick shop to pick up a couple of treats and it was back on the bus for our return to Waikiki.
PS, The shaved ice was a hit too!

Moving and Amazing!

Posted on: 2015/07/31

Pearl Harbor is truly amazing. we must admit as Aussies, my family knew only the basics about the bombing of Pearl Harbor, After our day at Pearl Harbor we learnt and appreciated so much more.

Our tour from the moment of pick up to return was exceptional. Larry our coach driver was a wonderful guide. He was very informative on our tour of the city. Our adult & teenage kids were very impressed to see the High School that Bruno Mars went to. The drive through the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific was both moving and respectful. Driving past Hawaii State Capitol and understanding the architecture as well as Iolani Palace and Kawaiaha'o Church and stopping at the Supreme Court were a highlight. Upon arrival at Pearl Harbor, Larry explained everything clearly and we completely understood all requirements.

Visiting the Arizona Memorial was a truly moving experience, both an honour and privilege. Upon return, we headed to the bus to take us to Ford Island to step aboard the Mighty Mo (Missouri). Exploring the USS Missouri was great. While there were free guided tours available, we chose to explore on our own and had so much fun, while still learning all about this amazing vessel. To stand at the very location where the Instrument of Surrender to end World War II took place was remarkable and a moment to reflect.

We didn't get to see all of Pearl Harbor, but what we did see was amazing and we will be back on the Full Tour to see the rest and pay our respects again.
