Manoa Valley Lyon Arboretum Nature Walk (Easy)
Overall Rating
4.43Good fun for nature lovers!
Reviewed by: Jess, 2011/12/16Bob was our tour guide and he was lots of fun and a real character!
I wouldn't recommend this trip for people with young kids as I suspect they'd probably get bored easily and the walk would be quite challenging in the wet for them.
Definitely wear enclosed shoes! One woman on my tour wore sandals and regretted it the moment she got out of the car.
Also, expect to get wet if you go in winter like I did. Rain jackets were provided.
Overall, it was a really neat tour full of information on the native and canoe plants of Hawaii.

Good tour
Reviewed by: Mr. Anonymous, 2011/05/01Did not see any rainbows however the botanical garden tour was awesome. Politics were weaved into the tour which I did not care for. Otherwise great picture opportunity for those looking to take great pics.

Fun and beautiful.
Reviewed by: UtahMommy, 2010/10/03It was raining the day we went so we didn't get the full tour at the aboretum. I think we were the youngest people maybe ot ever take this tour. Even the guide made a joke about it. The flowers and trees that we saw were incredible though and she didn't not dissapoint us when we got to catch a gorgeous rainbow over the valley on our way to the lookout point where we snapped some more gorgeous photo's. Our guide was very friendly and a wealth of knowledge not just on the plants but on Hawaiin history. It made the tour so much better. Not sure if you really need a guide for this one though when you could do it on your own for minimal costs, but still glad we did it anyway.

great hike
Reviewed by: Frannie, 2008/10/13First of all, you should call this a hike not a tour.
If a person is willing to walk, you will be rewarded with a beautiful tour of the Lyon Arboretum.
The guide/driver was a pleasant person who obviously liked what he was doing.
Backpacks, water, and walking sticks were provided to help you get down some of the steeper and muddy inclines (wear old shoes).
After the arboretum, we were taken to some high spots overlooking the island. It was really beautiful.

Valley of the Rainbows
Reviewed by: Sandy, 2008/03/12This was a highly informative nature hike. Our guide, Greg, was very knowledgeable and attentive to everyone in the group. The plant life was viberant and beautiful. Having the extra information about the various plants added a great deal to the outing.
Highly recommended.
