From Waikiki, drive up the east side of the island by taking Hwy H-1 westbound and then crossing the Ko’olau Mountains via Hwy 61, Hwy 63, or Hwy H-3. Once you reach the intersection with Hwy 83, turn left and head north to reach your destination.

Alternatively, you can take Hwy H-1 westbound until you reach the intersection with Hwy H-2. From there, head north on Hwy H-2, which will turn into Hwy 99. Follow this route until you reach Hwy 83 near Hale’iwa.

If you’re heading to Waimea Bay Beach Park, located northeast of Hale’iwa on Hwy 83, be sure to turn inland to bypass the bay. The park entrance is before you cross the river that empties into the ocean, and you’ll need to make a right turn onto Waimea Valley Road.
