History
Located in Waimanalo near Makapuʻu Point, north of Hanauma Bay on the breathtaking island of Oahu in Hawaii, United States, this place is a marine mammal park, bird sanctuary, and aquarium all rolled into one. Since 1964, the park has been delighting visitors with unforgettable experiences. You can interact with the animals by swimming with dolphins, sea lions, and rays. You can also take a sea safari in the aquarium and feed the sea turtles! In 2005, the park was acquired by Dolphin Discovery and was later acquired by Palace Entertainment in 2008.
Sea Life Park also champions marine conservation, preservation, and education. Their efforts have led to the rescue and release of over 4,000 seabirds and the release of 16,000 green sea turtle hatchlings. How to Get There
By Bus
Hop on Honolulu’s city bus, which offers daily routes to and from Sea Life Park Hawaii. Check schedules at www.thebus.org.
By Car
From Waikiki, it’s a quick 30-minute to 1-hour drive to Sea Life Park. Take the H-1 East (Lunalilo freeway) and H-1 becomes Highway 72. Drive through the residential area until you reach the coast. Then continue driving along the coast past Hanauma Bay, the Blow Hole, and Sandy Beach, to Makapu’u Point. You’ll see the large signs indicating Sea Life Park’s entrance on the left side of the road. The parking lot rate is $15 per vehicle per day. However, guests coming to enjoy lunch at Beachboy Lanai get free parking. Be sure to ask the parking booth for details.
