The Garden Isle
Kauai
The oldest of the Hawaiian islands, and home to Mount Waialeale, one of the wettest spots on earth, this lush and verdant paradise offers a wondrous mix of peaceful tranquility and thrilling adventures by land, air and sea.
Known as “The Garden Isle,” Kauai has become a popular destination for anyone wanting to experience the quiet beauty of a remote and rugged island paradise. From the towering cliffs of the Na Pali Coast that border the island’s west side, to the deep trenches of Waimea Valley, Kauai offers a plethora of unique and memorable scenic sights and locations. With its unmatched natural wonder, Kauai has also become the backdrop to countless movie blockbusters and television shows. With film classics like Blue Hawaii and South Pacific, to modern day masterpieces including Jurassic Park and Avatar, and even in animated films like Lilo & Stitch, the island has quickly established itself as a Hollywood favorite.
Whether you are wanting to hop on a helicopter and fly over the island’s many wondrous waterfalls, or head down to Poipu for some of Hawaii’s best snorkeling, or even explore the irrigation ditches of an old sugar cane plantation on an inner tube, or simply enjoy the island’s peaceful serenity, Kauai will welcome one and all with aloha.

Good to Know

- Always stay on marked trails while hiking, and take plenty of water with you. The trails can become very precarious when it rains and flash floods can come when least expected.
- While there are many locations that make for the perfect photo spot, do not risk your safety by going into waterfalls or swimming holes unattended.
- Public transportation is limited on Kauai, and renting a car is recommended if you plan on exploring the island.
- Most of Kauai quiets down after dark, and there isn’t much a nightlife for those seeking after hours entertainment.
- Na Pali Coast and Mountain Tubing tours are extremely popular and book up weeks in advance, so be sure to book early!
