Smith's Kauai Wailua River Cruise to Fern Grotto with Live Entertainment / River Cruise Package
AMAZING! If you haven't booked a luau this trip Do THE CRUISE!

When we booked our trip to HI my husband had been 3-4 times already. I hadn't been at all. He convinced me not to book a luau. We really like food and figured we'd save the money for something else. Once we got to HI I was really-really bummed we didn't have a luau on the docket, and it was too late to book anything.
This cruise was amazing and once we did it we weren't so bummed about missing the luau. The cruise is so peaceful. The guide is a smith family member and his family owns the land surrounding the river. He knows so much about the land and has tons of stories he tells while you cruise up and down the river.
You stop at the fern grotto, which is so cool. It's a must see on any trip to Kauai. The musicians on the cruise play songs and play a special song to people who have just gotten married or celebrating anniversaries.
Then on the ride back the musicians play native songs. It's the next best thing to a luau.
Already did it once but will do it again!

Amazing Experience!

We loved this day trip. The guides were really helpful and taught everyone on the lesson how to SUP. I was the only one of the group to fall in and it wasn't the guides fault.
The SUP portion was so relaxing, not strenuous at all. If you want a strenuous SUP trip rent and head up the Wailua River to the Fern Grotto.
After the SUP we hiked to a really beautiful swimming hole, not included in the description where we ate lunch and got to zip line into into the hole. There was also a huge dive platform. My husband did it, but I was too scared. Our guide had tons of information about local plants and wildlife.
After the swimming hole we hiked to another little lake with a rope swing. The lake was featured in the most recent Pirates of the Caribbean movie which our Guide clued us into. Super cool! And where we hiked out of the jungle to our boat to take us back to the launch we walked through the area where Indiana Jones ran out chased by natives in Raiders of the Lost Ark. So much fun! My husband and I went back to the hotel and watched Indy- Lost Ark just for fun.
We had so much fun on this trip and would recommend it to anyone. It's especially great if you want an intro to SUP. You'll feel like a pro by the end. And be ready to rent and board up a couple other rivers on the island.

Atlantis Kona Submarine Tour & Undersea Adventure - Descend up to 100 feet / Kona Submarine
Awesome! Our favorite adventure from this vacation.

This submarine cruise was amazing!! The crew was so friendly and our guide was funny. It was obvious everyone loved their job. Our guide was obviously an experienced diver because he knew so much about all the various fish we saw and had lots of great stories involving the different fish/coral.
The visibility was amazing the day we went. I think I took almost 200 pictures. We were so surprised when we saw 2 shipwrecks on the cruise. Such a fun bonus!
My husband is very outdoorsy and was a little whiny about doing the submarine over an actual snorkel day cruise. He loved the submarine and thought it was so much fun. We will definitely do it again when we're back.
