Welcome to Oahu!

Above and beyond!
Our flight was delayed 7 hours, we arrived at HNL at 11:00 PM local time and I was sure the surprise greeting I had planned for our family's first trip to the island would have been canceled due to the late hour.
Instead, we were greeted at the gate by a beautiful, very cordial young lady who presented us with gorgeous leis and welcomed us warmly. She was very informative, took us directly to baggage claim and explained how to get to the rental car site most readily.
She made lemon-aide out of the lemons we had been given by the travel delay and helped start our vacation right!
Mahalo Nui Loa!

Pearl Harbor Brought to Life!
Posted on: 2014/10/03
My husband is retired USAF and we are history buffs. I surprised my family with this excursion on our first morning in Honolulu so that we could see the island of Oahu from the air before striking out on our own to tour it by car, and especially so that we could see, from the air, what the Zero pilots had seen as they approached Pearl Harbor.
WOW! We all LOVED it!
We were picked up at our hotel and driven to the waterfront by a very informative driver (sorry, don't remember his name!) who gave us tips on local restaurants, photo ops, tours, etc.
We arrived at the Island Seaplane Service site in about 15 minutes and received a pre-flight briefing and shown a map of the island as we discussed points of interest, history, and what to expect during the flight.
The flight was wonderful! The pilot was very informative and the view from the air was completely different than what we later saw on our land tours. There is no better way we could experienced the approach to Pearl Harbor -- that was magnificent and gave us an entirely new perspective on the attack and the aftermath.
After a perfect sea landing, we were driven back to the hotel.
Could not possibly have asked for more! Highly recommend.

Hana by Air & Land - Helicopter Flight & Semi-Private Sightseeing Tour Combo / Morning Tour
Wow! What a Day!
Posted on: 2014/10/03
I will be forever grateful that a friend talked me out of renting a car and driving the Road to Hana. We are not spring chickens and weren't sure how we would like a helicopter trip to Hana with a road trip back to the cruise port in a 6-passenger luxury van. We knew we didn't want to do a 12-hour bus ride (cruise excursion) but we didn't want to miss Hana.
THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO DO IT!
We thoroughly enjoyed the helicopter flight to Hana and were able to see from the air the majesty of the island which would not have been as apparent from the land. Then we had a delicious lunch on the beach (provided by our tour guide, Surfer Sue) and experienced in all it's surface beauty, the road to Hana. There is no way we could have enjoyed this nearly as much had we driven both directions and certainly not at all had I decided to drive it myself. Sue taught me more about Hawaiian native flora and fauna than I would have learned in weeks on my own.
Because we wanted to make so many photo stops on the way back to port, we returned later than expected. Sue was kind enough to call the folks at Blue Hawaii Helicopters and ask them to send some articles we had purchased that morning and left behind at the shop for convenience sake, to us at the cruise port. No worries!
We could not have enjoyed this excursion any better than we did! Above and beyond treatment at every turn. Highly recommend for all ages.
