Puako Bay Coral Gardens Snorkel & Guided Ocean Kayak Tour [Open Soon] / National Marine Sanctuary Kayak & Snorkel
Lovely time with whales
Posted on: 2015/04/07
We are visitors from Japan. I participated the kayak and snorkel tour in Puako with my son (10-years old) and wife. The instructors are thoughtful persons paying kind attention to us all the time. After 15 min guidance on a shore, we sailed out to see whales and play snorkel. We saw a number of (several dozens, if my memory is correct) whales from the kayaks. We were so surprised to see these whales at the close distance (but not dangerous). Later, we parked our kayaks at a buoy and played snorkeling. At the beginning, my son was a bit frightened to do it because of the depth (about 10-m), but soon realized it's very safe not only because of the life jacket but also because of kind help of instructors (they pilot the kayak close to us during snorkeling). Needless to say, we saw very beautiful scenery of colorful fishes, octopus, and coral reef. After the snorkeling, we enjoy sailing with kayak again. My son felt so comfortable and slept soundly on a quiet ocean. I visited the Big Island many times, but this is the best marine activity. I strongly recommend the tour!
