Home of the Brave Pearl Harbor & Military Base Tour
Home of the Brave Tour
(Took tour on 24 April 2009) This is a wonderful tour to history buffs and non-history buffs alike. Brandon was the consummate tour guide. His knowledge of the "inside" and side-bar stories of the Pearl Harbor attack, many focusing on the US Army Air Corps participation, enhanced all of the stops we made: the USS Arizona Memorial, Wheeler Field, Schofield Barracks, Fort Shafter and National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl National Cemetery). These stories fill in the spaces that most of us have in our knowledge of the attack.
I especially enjoyed Brandon setting the scene at all of the stops. He wants to place you in that place at that time ("Notice how quiet it is....")
The museum where Home of the Brave Tours is based (the visit is part of the tour) is amazing for the small space they occupy. WW2 memorabilia (including a Jeep and an Army motorcycle from the Indian Motorcycle Company). There is also a small USO stage and a 1940's bar with lanai. The best part of this
