Honolulu to Hilo One Day Fly Away Tour - Volcanoes National Park & Waterfalls
Completely unforgettable!
Reviewed by: Marina Erickson, 2008/08/02It was a long day, but one that I will not soon forget! From the moment we were picked up, till we were dropped back off, the staff was excellent. They were fountains of information and made the tour that much better.
Once we arrived into Hilo, I was thrilled to be able to see the crater and recent lava flows. It is amazing that this island is still growing and too see where new land is being created was quite the experience. Also being able to have lunch at the Volcano House was a wonderful touch and I am glad that we were able to have lunch in such a unique environment (and it was really yummy too)!
There was so much to see even once we were done with at the National Volcano Park, and the waterfalls were quite breathtaking. Must thank our river for the stop at the macadamia nut factory, since the ice-cream just hit the spot!

She was extremely sweet and interested in what we had planned for our vacation. she was also very helpful in taking us to baggage claim and helping us find our shuttle to our hotel,that was not a requirement, she went over and above our expectations! Thank you for starting our vacation off with that great aloha spirit, we heard so much about, before arriving.

North Shore Shark Adventures - Oahu Cage Diving Tour with Waikiki Transportation
Outstanding! ~ Don't go hungover

As a group of three we boarded the North Shore boat in various stages of hangover from an international conference. One mate was viciously seasick, another repeatedly seasick and I was moderately seasick (only had to hang my head over the boat once). It is a testament to this excursion that although we all felt absolutely awful we thought it was AMAZING and would do it again in a heartbeat.
Do not pass up the opportunity to see these incredible animals in crystal clear deep waters. Be sure to have something for motion sickness as it is a bumpy ride on the boat and in the cage.

Reviewed by: fab5, 2008/07/23Our family of 5 departed the plane coming from Las Vegas to Oahu. It was an exceptionally long flight due to delays. We were all tired and crabby so it was exciting to see our kids faces light up when they realized not everyone was getting a lei greeting but that our family was! A Hawaiian looking woman was standing with a sign with our name on it! She greeted each of us with a warm smile and "Aloha" and then walked with us to the baggage area chatting the whole time. Our whole family enjoyed it and every first time visitor should do it. I am glad that our greeter was from Hawaiian decent. Another family had a greeting and their greeter was definitely from the mainland. I would NOT have been happy if that had been us!

You really need to get a guide to get the most information on each village and so you don't end up going in circles or getting lost in the center. The guide keeps you on track and know when the shows are scheduled and the best places to sit. The food was exceptional. Our seats were in the sun and we wish we could have sat in the shade....that was our only complaint. The sun didn't stay up long and we soon forgot about it. Overall we had a really great time and would do it again!

Great Time!
Reviewed by: BMcGinnis, 2008/07/22Cousin Henry (our driver and guide) was fantastic! He made the trip. Very informative, and spoke from experience. Food was good, not amazing, but plentiful. Evening show took awhile to get interesting, but then look out! Fire show was incredible. Don't miss the demonstrations before the luau!! We thought the cost was a little pricy, but the experience was just wonderful.

Family Fun kayaking to Flat Island
Reviewed by: Steve G, 2008/07/21Our family of 6 had a great time on the 2 hour kayak tour to Flat Island! Our guide Cyrus was very knowledgeable about the island and the near-by beaches. He also shared a few Hawaiian stories explaining the history of Flat Island and some of the flowers growing there. All in all, I'd recommend the activity to anyone interested in kayaking the crystal clear waters of the eastern Oahu shore. And if you're a more experienced kayaker, or in better shape than us, try the 4-hr tour!

Great Show

Some of the villages are closed and there is not enough time to do EVERYTHING there is to do, but I could not see staying there all day. The best part is the Horizon's night show; this is FANTASTIC and definately worth it. I feel that the cost is a little high, but it's vacation and this an experience you won't get elsewhere.

Late but upgraded
Reviewed by: Mr. Anonymous, 2008/07/05The company was late by nearly 1/2 an hour (apparently vehicle issue or double booked, not sure why), but they compensated by upgrading the vehicle that was sent. The trip to airport did not provide water during transfer, which we were counting on...especially after sitting outside for 1/2 hour without any...since this was our first round-trip transfer with this company, not sure if they make a habit of it or if was the hurry of getting us a vehicle replacement...as the vehicles were top of the line, I'd try them again and hopefully they would provide water both ways and be on time. The trip from the airport to the hotel was perfect and on time with water provided...so assume the transfer back wasn't the norm...I saw other limos from other companies on the island and I was SO glad we hadn't used them (old limos, damaged limos)!!! The drivers were both very good.

I recommend mapping out your desitnations, so that you don't miss anything...we saw just about everything in the 5 hours we were there (didn't do the night dinner/ show...felt it would be too exhausting after a whole day of show-watching at the center.) Get there early! Enjoy! P.S. If you drive, there are some scenic spots and great beaches in the area.

Seeing sharks circling up from the deep to come and feed in close attendence with Trumpetfish and a random Tuna was a sight I will never forget. The water was so blue and clear that it was like watching on film. If there is one thing that you do when you go to Hawaii then this should be it. With the correct balance between ecology, safety and fun this must be the best activity by a mile and it still leaves time for surfing in the afternoon! Brilliant.

Reviewed by: Cathy, 2008/06/23This is a very long day, so be sure to get a good night's sleep the night before! We started off the morning with a 4:30 am pickup at our Oahu hotel and were driven to the airport. The driver was on time but the flight out to the Big Island on Island Air was not until after 6:30am, so we did have a but of a wait. The flight out was good, with one stop in Maui to pick up more people.
Once in Hilo, we were placed in a comfortable, air conditioned mini coach that could hold approximately 24 people. Our driver, Steve, was wonderful. He was friendly and constantly speaking to us with a wealth of information.
We are a family of five that went on this tour. I would not recommend this tour for really young children, as this is a long day and there is about a 1 mile hike on uneven hardened lava, but our youngest child is 9 and she did great. Our family enjoyed this tour very much and thought that this tour was a great value. We would definitely do it again.

This year my family and I decided to attend the luau at the Polynesian center since we had heard so much of it. Unfortunately, we were not impressed and actually disappointed. We were treated better at the other two luau's, such as free alcohol drinks and hospitality overall. Your dinner was good, and the waitress attended us well. We were disappoin- ted with the show. I felt I was watching a Las Vegas show and not a cultural, narrative, Polynesian history show. My family and I love to see the grass skirt dances and you had very little of it. We also did not like the auditorium ambiance and everyone running to get ice cream.
