We had a wonderful experience with Trilogy.
The crew were fantastic and the whole experience was exceptional!! The food was tasty and something for everyone to enjoy. The sunset that night was the prettiest it had been for the whole week. So glad we got to sail with Trilogy and her crew! Y'all made our time in Maui truly memorable!!

Amazing tour. Different than the rest.

This was an amazing experience.
Yes you can drive to the top of the mountain with your own car and view the sunset and save yourself the money ( you still have to pay admission fee). But this tour is not just about the sunset.
Its about seeing the stars mostly.
Yoshi has two freaking telescopes. Not just one. 1 worth around 3k i believe and the other for sure more than 10k.
Also we saw some other tours going up tthe mountain and a lot of cars and it gets really packed at the 10k feet. Yoshi has his secret location thats what he calls it, where actually not a lot of people go there and its at 9k feet. So hw drives up to the 10k feet to see the sunset, and if its packed he goes down the 9k feet. But for the stars is definetely at the 9k feet and its amazing for both. Not a lot of people, there is silence and you can enjoy both experiences.
Also the other tours are just for the sunset most probably. We definetely dis t see anyone else with a telescope. So yeah this experience is unique.
We were able to view multiple stars and he explained everything about the stars, we were able to view the ISS station when it passed through, we were able to see Saturn very closely and yes its like the pictures. You can see the ring around it.
We also saw Jupiter and 4 moons of jupiter and the moon and the craters on tbe moon. All these you cant see with the naked eye.
He provided jackets, chairs, blankets as it gets cold up there, some krispy kreme donughts, hot tea, coffee, and water as well.
So yeah if you just wanna see the sunset you can do it on your own if you wanna save money . But the real experience which is something unique that you cant see abywhere else is the star gazing and you get the sunset as a bonus.
So yeah recommended. And go with this tour because of the telescope.

The Best Sunset Ever

This experience was absolutely great! The view of the sunset from the top of Haleakalā volcano leaves anyone speechless and looking at the stars surrounded by the complete dark and the complete silence is astonishing. Yoshi is the perfect guide: he knows everything about Maui and he is an amazing guest. He bought us donuts, he gave us hot tea and sweets, and he had coats and gloves to face the cold. Visiting Maui is something you can't miss.

Once in a lifetime

It was a once in a lifetime experience. Our tour guide was real friendly and knowledgeable. He showed us a shopping center on our way. He serve crispy krispy cream donuts and tea. Shared his knowledge and showed us Jupiter, the craters of the moon and constellations. The drive up did not take very long. It was freezing during the night so put on layers. Watching the sunset was beautiful.

A Must Do!

Yoshi was our tour guide and he was fabulous. Very knowledgeable and thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience. At 10 thousand feet it does get colder than you expect. We had the chance to stop and change into warmer clothes before going to the summit. Highly recommend this tour!

Amazing experience!

I booked this tour for myself, my husband, and my six year old son. It was well worth it. Captain Travis and his crew were consistently attentive, well organized, and kind. The snorkeling spot was fantastic as well. The food was GREAT as I was expecting just a wonder bread ham sandwich, a bag of chips, and a can of soda. Highly recommend - esp. just based on the crew alone and nothing else.

富士山クラスの山でしたが、トイレ休憩含め、高度に少しずつ慣らしながら連れて行ってくれたので何の問題もなく山頂まで到着。
雲が厚く、心配しましたがサンセット時にはだいぶ晴れ、幻想的な夕陽を見ることが出来ました。
そして真っ暗になってからはポインターで空を指しながらの解説で正に天然のプラネタリウムでした。
高級な望遠鏡も用意頂き、土星の輪っかや月のクレーターなどもはっきり見ることが出来ました。
どうもありがとうございました。

At first I was a bit disappointed because we thought they have forgotten about us,only to find out that they were waiting for us in the other hotel roundabout-there was a little misunderstanding with the pick up location. Our hotel and the next door hotel names are almost the same.Other than that,the trip was amazing. At first,it was all covered by clouds and fog but our guide did not give up and tell us to wait a little longer. True enough..while all have left,we stayed to witness the sunrise. It was amazing! Our guide did not disappoint us!
Aloha! Sorry about the confusion on your pick-up. It can get a bit confusing with hotel names. Happy that you enjoyed the majesty of seeing the Sun rise from Mauna Haleakala. We had a great time in the sunset and stargazing tour. The tour operator Yamauchi-San was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. He promptly picked us up at the scheduled time. He was very engaging with the whole group and provided us with donuts and water at the start of the trip. He ensured that the group got gradually acclimated to the altitude by stopping at couple of places on the way. Once we reached the summit he took us to a place that had a very clear view of the setting sun. Then during the stargazing part of the tour he showed us several stars and star clusters through the telescope and binoculars. Also since it was a full moon we also got a good view of the moon and it’s craters through the telescope. Overall we enjoyed the tour and would recommend it to others.

We had the best tour ever! We ended up being the only two on the tour and it was amazing. He even stopped and got us some donuts. We saw the best sunset and so many stars. Yoshi showed us all the different stars and the milky way on the telescope. He also took plenty of pictures of us and let me just say he is an amazing photographer. Would love to go again.

Yoshi is amazing! He is very thoughtful and came prepared. I went to Haleakala for sunset and then went for stargazing. He is very knowledgeable and explained a lot about stars to us using laser & telescope. He gave us donut, tea, blanket, gloves, jacket, and candy. It was amazing!!! He is very kind and friendly. I definitely recommended him to everyone.

Best Day Excursion!

My family and I had the best experience. From the moment we stepped onto the boat, the crew was very attentive, friendly, and funny. They provided a great overview of the day activities and what we needed. They checked on us frequently and even provided a little history lesson on the nearby islands. We took about 1 hr boat ride over to Lanai. Once at Lanai, it was a 7 minute walk to the beach. The beach was amazing!!! We did some snorkeling, a short nature walk, and had some time to chill at the beach. The BBQ LUNCH was delicious! The boat ride back we enjoyed 2 cocktails and ice cream. The crew exceeded our expectations. I would definitely do this again! I felt like VIP. Book it! You won’t regret it

My wife and I had an incredible day on this excursion! The exclusive rights to the island that other tour companies do not have is what makes this company one of a kind!! They take you to a "private" beach and allow you to snorkel, hike, and provide a breakfast and lunch! There were other companies snorkeling around reefs but this company actually takes you onto the island!! We HIGHLY recommend! Captain Raquel and her crew were fantastic!

Amazing stargazing trip!

This tour is absolutely worth it! Yoshi is tour owner and tour guide with over 20 yrs experience! His tour is perfect for those who don’t want to drive up for their first time in the dark and windy road (like the other tour). Everything was provided as described- and the arctic jackets were a must have because it was freezing and windy! Loved the hot tea provided too! Yoshi is super knowledgeable about the stars and with his telescopes we were able to see the beautiful stars. Oh and the sunset was absolutely terrific too! Definitely worth taking this tour!

I highly recommend this as a staple in your trip to Hawaii! My fiancé and I had a fantastic time, the crew was awesome and nice and made the experience awesome! I am definitely going to do this on my next trip to Hawaii!! During this you get a nice ride in the water, and drinks the appetizers were delicious as well! Also they have an onboard photographer! It's called a snorkel tour but that title really falls short of everything involved. We had not one but two dolphin sightings. I'm not saying we saw a couple of them in the far distance. They were swimming right beside us, and there were literally dozens upon dozens of them jumping and spinning above the water. The beach at Lanai is peaceful and exclusive. The team set up games and activities for everyone to enjoy. Yes there's snorkeling but they are not assuming that everyone is into that. You wanna chill on the beach? You wanna play giant Jenga with the fam? You wanna walk up a nature trail? All covered. The short trail up to the cliff side is indescribable. After all of that they feed you a freshly prepared bbq lunch and they make certain that you don't leave hungry. The servers came by a half dozen times to make sure that everyone had enough food. I took the 630am tour in anticipation of afternoon winds because I tend to get motion sickness. I am not a morning person at all but considering the perfect conditions I had no regrets. The crew was attentive, friendly and considerate. I don't eat meat and I avoid gluten. I stupidly forgot to mention that in my booking, but they were still able to accommodate me on the spot with no hassle or judgement. If you've read this far and you still haven't booked, you'll be missing out on one of the best tours the island offers.

We had an amazing experience aboard the Trinity. Aside from the wonderfully planned experiences, such as snorkeling a hike up to see Puu Pehe and a delicious lunch, we were met with extraordinary surprises as well! We were greeted by whales and dolphins! The voyage from Maui to Lanai was very enjoyable. The scenery of the ocean and islands around us, as well as the service on board with the friendly and knowledgeable staff. The snorkeling was AMAZING.

The snorkel equipment was the best we found, instructions for use were useful and enhanced the experience. The trip over to Lanai was fun and the captain was entertaining.
The timing of everthing was correct. The snorkelling was over at the correct time for the meal, the meal was great and appropriate for the day
The weather was perfect, and we even saw a whale breach in the way back.

Snorkel and Beach Day trip to Lanai

The day with the Trilogy people was amazing. We had great weather with little wind for the trip over to the island. We were able to pick a pod of dolphins along the south shore of Lanai. Captain Raquel and her crew on April 8 onboard Trilogy IV took care of everything. They were active to check on everyone to be sure that all were doing well. Beach time on Lanai was incredible. Snorkel time over the reef in the middle of the bay allowed lots of fish viewing time. Crew was active to assist everyone into the water and was watchful as we were in the water to stay safe. Plantation lunch was excellent and was served comfortably in the Pavilion. Our return trip was comfortable in spite of the waves being more vigorous.
We have been to Lanai with other companies. Captain Raquel and her crew delivered incredible service and made the day very enjoyable.
Leave early to avoid traffic issues even if arriving for the 6:00AM check in. We parked in the Republic lot on Dickenson and had a short walk to the check in area.

Tight squeeze

This trip was nice, not too many vehicles going counter clockwise. We saw such a long line of cars towards the end. Glad we went backwards, and skipped the traffic.
There were some narrow squeezes and even had to back up once. But the views were great (just look quickly!) the rainbow trees are beautiful.
Time constraints didn’t allow us to swim under the waterfall, which I would have liked to do (colder water needed to get used to it and dry off..,)
Hana town looks quaint and cute.
The black sand beach and swimming was great!

He wants to ensure that EVERYONE no matter what season it is layers up, wears clothes toed shoes (toe warmers like the ones used in Tahoe would be the best idea ever!) and BRING A BLANKET! Whatever size you want, fluffy, non fluffy donuts matter. But, this awesome tour guide lets you leave you items safely on the bus so all your have to comfortable carry the very few far steps you actually have to walk, is the blanket and your camera for beautiful views. Keep your positive attitude when waking early, plan ahead with an energy drink or snack to keep you going until you reach to Kula Lodge (TRY THE LOCO MOCO JUST TRUST ME) and you'll be good to go!
