Highlight of my vacation to Maui!

It was a fabulous, educational experience and the highlight of our 11-day trip to Maui. Our guide, Bruce, was exceptionally knowledgeable on the island's history. He made the trip so enjoyable and, with the small number of people on each tour, it was very interactive. The online booking process was so easy. We were able to pick the exact date we needed to fit in with our vacation plans. I would highly recommend this tour to everyone.

Lanai Jeep Rental with Round-Trip Ferry Ride from Maui [Closed]
I made it to Lanai!!!
Reviewed by: Pigalicious, 2019/09/25The Expeditions morning ferry ride was like being in an airplane. The vessel was really cold and it was such a smooth ride that it didn't feel like your on a boat. Once you get to Manele Harbor the shuttle is waiting for you to take you to Lanai City. To make the most of our time in Lanai our family paid the driver the extra $10 per person for the shuttle ride but it was definitely worth it. We all shared the excitement of how the trees are all beautifully aligned along the roads. The attendant at the jeep rental gave us a map and some local tips of where to visit and eat. Being it was an early ferry ride, nothing was open so early around Lahaina Harbor we got our breakfast at the only gas station in Lanai. We started the Munro Trail but after getting mosquito bites we decided to turn around and head towards the Garden of the Gods. It was my first time driving a jeep so I was a bit nervous but the trail ahead of the Garden was much more bumpy and thrilling. Once we saw the dark clouds, we decided to make a u turn and head towards Lanai City. It was so nice to be driving on paved road again!!! The ferry ride back to Lahaina was nothing like the morning ride but with all the bumpiness you experience on the jeep I wasn't sure if was just the feeling of it or if was actually bumpy. My only regret us we left the Pineapple Island without seeing a pineapple plant!!!! Thank you Expeditions for finally making my dream of visiting Lanai possible!

Lanai Jeep Rental with Round-Trip Ferry Ride from Maui [Closed]
Epic way to explore Lanai!
Reviewed by: Mike, 2019/08/07Renting a jeep to explore Lanai was the best decision we made on our vacation! Renting the jeep gave us the ability to really go explore the island. When we arrived to lanai on the ferry we caught a shuttle ride that took us to Lanai City and dropped us off at the jeep rental office. From there we spent a little bit of time checking out some of the small shops in Lanai City before grabbing some lunch to take with us. The first place we went was the Garden of the Gods, which is a rock garden area that resembles the surface of Mars more than Hawaii. It is impossible to describe the overwhelming peace and untouched beauty of this place. From there we continued on to Polihua Beach. The off road trail starts to get a little more rugged and we locked the Jeep into four wheel drive, this is where the real fun began. At the end of the trail was the deserted and untouched Polihua Beach. We made this our lunch spot but did not stay long. Our next destination was Shipwreck Beach. Here we found the hiking trail that leads to the ancient Hawaiian petroglyphs. It was maybe a 10 minute hike from where we parked the jeep to the site with the petroglyphs. At first we were not able to see any, but you must climb up a few feet to see the more well preserved petroglyphs. After the petroglyphs and shipwreck beach we went back to Lanai City to return the jeep and catch a ride back down to the harbor. We intentionally turned the Jeep in a little bit early so that we could have plenty of time to snorkel at Hulopo'e beach before boarding the ferry to return to Maui. Hulopo'e Beach was absolutely incredible. In my opinion, it is the best snorkel spot in the entire state of Hawaii! The only thing I would change would have been to take the early ferry over to Lanai and the last ferry of the day to depart from Lanai. Lanai may be a small island, but there is more there than you can explore in one day.

Maui to Lanai Ferry Ride/Guided Island Full Day Tour

He is a very knowledgeable guide and answered all our numerous questions. He is also an excellent driver.
Despite the fact that our tour was cut short by about 2 hours due to the cancellation of the last ferry because of bad weather, we were able to see everything on our list.
Thanks Steve for making our Lanai trip so memorable.

無人島からカメハメハ大王の避暑地、パイナップルアイランドを経て、今は、島の大部分が大富豪の私有地という自然あるがままの島でした。
Reviewed by: ユウヤケパットマン, 2019/05/30ラハイナ港のメインローディングドック集合だったが、そこには、誰も迎えがなく、ラナイ島行フェリーチケット売り場でこのバウチャーを見せてみたら、ぴったしカンカン、ここで、このツアーのチケットが用意されていた。
フェリーに揺られ到着直前には、景勝地であるプウ・ペヘ（スイートハート・ロック）を海側から見ながら４５分でマネレ港に到着した。４WDツアー案内人（日系２世で祖父は福岡の出身とのことであるが、日本語は少しか話せず、一度は日本に行きたいが、ラスベガスでお金儲けできず、行ったことはないとのこと）に迎えられ、私たちとテキサスからの夫婦計４人のツアーが始まった。フェリーから見てると、どこに人が住んでいるのかという気配が全くない島であったが、２０分ほど山を登っていくと、島のほとんどの人口（約３０００人）が集結している？？ラナイシティに到着。ここには、ビルはない、スーパーもない、娯楽施設は映画館は一軒、レストランは２，３軒？、ただ、教会は１４軒あるとのこと。だが、Lグレードの高級ホテルが２軒ある。ここに宿泊される人たちは、観光ではなく、ゆったりとした時間をすごされる違う世界の人たちだと思われる。この街を周回して、神々の庭園と呼ばれるケアヒアカベロに向かい、北上していく道沿いにはパインツリーが整然と植樹されており、少し道路から離れたところには、野生のシカの家族が多く見られた。ここら一帯は、パイナップル農場だったとのことであるが、一部は馬牧場が運営されていた。道沿いには、パイナップル農場で使用していたらしい黒色のシートフィルムが細切れになり、散乱し環境汚染になっているという話があった。どんどん北上すると、さすがに４WDなのかがわかる超でこぼこ道にゆられて赤土の大地に、大きな岩や奇形の石などが至る所に散在するケアヒアカベロに到着。ここからは、すぐそこにモロカイ島も見ることができた。私たちは、半日ツアーであり、もう一か所、運が良ければ、モンクシールやホヌ（亀）に会えるとのことでシップレック（難破船）の見える場所に行き、ビーチウォークしたが、残念ながら見ることはできなかった。そこを離れ、ラナイシティに戻り１日ツアーのテキサスのご夫婦と別れ、マネレ港に出港時間の１０分前に到着し、無事、乗船できた。帰りの船は、行と異なり、かなりの大波を受けながらの４５分であった。ハワイ諸島のなかでも、こじんまりとしていて、ゆっくり時間が流れている静かな島をほんの少し体感できた。残すは、あと一つ、モロカイ島。いつ、訪れるか検討中。

地球の始まりと言うか、自然はこうやって生まれていった。みたいな・・・始まりの場所。
中でも一番素晴らしくまた訪れてみたいと思った所はスイートハート・ロック！！ 悲恋の伝説がある為か、誰も手をつけられない景観！ダイナミック過ぎる(≧∀≦)空も海も青い！ずーっと眺めていたかった。
そしてぇ！ガイドのIsaacさんが最高〜〜♪英語のおぼつかない私達にとにかく一生懸命に説明してくださり、お昼の心配までしてくれて感謝感謝です(≧∀≦)

A Day on The Non-Pineapple Isle
Reviewed by: Marcia Darm, 2019/05/11For anyone who comes to Maui frequently an eventual day trip to Lana’i is a welcome diversion. The 45 minute ferry ride is relaxing with great cliff views approaching Manele Harbor. Our tour included a morning drive with high point and view stops and a tour of Lana’i City, a lunch/shopping break and another drive to cover some more points of interest. Lana’ Is a bit of a time warp with both an ancient history and a new future with its purchase by Oracle founder Larry Ellison. The best part was our tour guide, Bruce, who gave the day his all. Loved it! Take cash as it’s so tiny some places do not accept credit cards. We had a 5 year old in our group of 5 who did great. If you are curious take the whole tour. There is also one lovely beach you can walk to from the ferry if you just want to chill.

Excellent guided tour of Lana'i
Reviewed by: John and Eva, 2019/04/07We have been coming to Maui for years but have never ventured off the island to visit Lana'i. First of all, Veltra allowed us to change the tour date from a Monday to a Thursday with no problem since we had a conflict come up. The ferry ride from Lahaina was easy and took about 45 minutes. The sea was very calm and although they recommend taking sea sickness pills, it wasn't necessary for this trip. Our tour guide Bruce, met us at the ferry dock on Lana'i. He drove us around in an air conditioned Suburban which was very comfortable. It was just the two of us so the tour was really personalized. We took the full day tour which really gives you a great impression of the island. The tour was about 2 1/2 hours in the morning, then an hour for lunch and 2 hours in the afternoon. Bruce, our guide has lived on Lana'i for 20 years and was very knowledgeable. He has seen the positive changes that have occurred on Lanai' since Larry Ellison bought the island five years ago and thoroughly explained the evolution of the island through the current day. We were then dropped off at the ferry dock for the 4:30 p.m. ferry back to Lanai--note, you need to book the return ferry when you schedule the tour and for the all day tour, the 4:30 p.m. ferry is the one to take.

Exploring Lanai
Reviewed by: The Gees, 2018/12/07We have visited Maui for many years. We have always said we need to do a day trip to one of the lesser visited islands. So we chose Lanai. The tour package was inclusive, so all we had to do was show up. The ferry ride was quite nice. Your your guide was very informative about the history of Lanai. It was nice to see the island that was not over developed. Who knows how long it can stay that way, but we really enjoyed it. As the guide mentioned there is not much to do on Lanai, so the half day tour worked out well for us. Never the less we enjoyed our trip.

Nice way to discover lanai

The tour was very good organized. Even the flexebility to rebook to the earlier ferry to return.
To our opinion it is almost impossible to find the ways on lanai without a guide.

Memorable experience
Reviewed by: Cathy, 2018/09/29The ferry ride was VERY rough on trip over to Lana I. Many roads not open due to recent rain. We enjoyed hiking in Shipwreck beach and seeing the landscape. The cat sanctuary was the highlight of the day. Walking arount town was pleasant. We enjoyed visiting the shops. Probably wouldn't return unless we were assured that more roads were open. Staff was quite accommodating.

A little disappointing

The trip to Shipwreck Beach was beautiful and worth that road. The Goddess trail was not clearly marked and hard to find where it was. One of the highlights of the day was pastries and coffee at Blue Ginger Cafe. Wish we had time to have lunch there too. It was a happening place and the staff were very friendly. Overall good day but would have been better if there were more trails open and they were up front with potential customers.

Opportunity missed!

No mention of this was ever made on the website or when I booked. Also, my fault, Koele Lodge is closed and under renovation so did not get to see that! Lanai City was cute and people were so nice. Going to Lanai was a bucket list item for me. A little disappointed.

Tedious day on the island
Reviewed by: Unhappy, 2018/07/26Too “tour bus” in style ( but it was Chevy). Tour went 2.5 hours with no food, water, or bathroom stop - family was not happy.
Tour and Island was ok, but it needs a mid point stop and event. Like swim in the ocean, or hike to some place, or zip line across a ravine, etc.
Needs more “ do it”, less sit.

He was very knowledgeable, personable, and very efficient in conducting the tour. He grew up on the island, knew its history personally--and this made all the difference in allowing for a great tour.

Reviewed by: Kristy, 2018/06/11Lodge is closed, two sites were inaccessible only 3 shops. If we had wanted to sit on a beach we could have stayed at our condo.
