Fun but not great

The divers worked hard at finding interesting things to show us up close but it felt like we could’ve gone to a better location where there was opportunity to see more fish. Between Reefdancer and Atlantis, the latter was a much better experience.

貴重な経験でした

以前、ハワイ島でマウナケアのサンセットツアーに参加していたので、今回は是非サンライズを、と思って参加しました。
ハレアカラのサンライズは本当に貴重な体験になりました。
雄大な雲海から昇ってくる太陽はなんとも言い難く。真っ暗で寒さに震えながら太陽を待っていた空間が、太陽によって一気に明るくあたたかく輝いたものに変化していくのは、体験してこそわかるもの。星空も抜群でしたが、移りゆく空の色の美しさはなんとも言えません。
山頂には大勢の観光客が場所とりをして、1時間ほど待っています。
防寒具は必須。私たちは冬用のヒートテックのシャツにダウン、帽子や手袋も準備していましたが、それでもズボンを二枚ばきにすれば良かったと後悔しました。カイロも必須です。寒さに過敏な日本人は特にかも。
ただし、行き帰りは普通にTシャツの軽装の方がよく、バス車内で脱ぎ着ができるように準備しておいた方が良いと思います。バスには荷物を置いておけるので。
残念だったこと。
日本語のオーディオをリクエストしていましたが、結局何もないまま。
英語ガイドしかサンライズはないので覚悟はしていましたが、VERTRAさんのHPには2人に1台貸し出し、とあっていたので少し期待していました。サンライズを観るについては、他の人と同じように動いていれば大丈夫だったのですが、行き帰りのガイドさんの説明など、こちらの英語力の乏しさもあって殆どわからず。残念でした。
朝食はゴルフ場で。自分の好きなメニューを選べます。
こちらの朝食は本当に美味しかったです。
ただ、座席の配分をガイドさんが上手に手配してくれず、私たちだけ2人と1人に分かれて朝食を取りました。日本のような細やかなサービスを求めるのは難しいとはわかっていますが、ガイドさんのもう一手間が欲しかったです。
ハレアカラはサンセットの日本語ツアーも人気です。
英語が得意、夜中の出発もOKの方はサンライズツアーも大いにありかと思いますが、今度、もしマウイに行く機会があればサンセットに参加したいと思います。もしくは、ハレアカラを自分でドライブするのが良いかもしれません。道路については一本道ですので、迷うこともなく。ただし日中に。

クジラの親子最高でした！
Reviewed by: Greentea, 2020/01/04滞在先から車で港へ向かいましたが、車で行く方は駐車場に要注意です。
ラハイナは街中の駐車場は昼にはほぼ満車。路駐は出来ません。ちょっと離れると駐車場はありますが、集合時間に余裕がなかったので少し焦りました。
船の関係で、少々待ち時間が長かったのですが、ラハイナ港でのんびりと海を眺めていると全く気になりません。目の前にはラナイ島とモロカイ島が見えます。
日本人が私たち家族だけで、しかも日本人ガイドさんがたまたま予定があって同乗してくれたため専属でガイドしてくれました。超ラッキーでした！！沖に出るまでに鯨の生態やマウイ島の説明を聞いていると、すぐに鯨発見の知らせが。ガイドさんが、10時、14時の方向・・・と次々と教えてくれます。はじめは見つけることが難しかったのですが、慣れてくると潮を吹いている場所や、波間に動いている鯨の親子がわかってきます。中には、船のすぐ近くまで来てくれる親子もいて、船上は大興奮。歓声があちこちで。1時間弱の間に、20回以上はシャッターチャンスがあったかと。ただし、カメラも望遠でなければ絵葉書のような写真は撮れません。法律でクジラとの距離が決まっているようで、肉眼で見る方がよいかも。
ガイドさんが鯨の生態を大学で専門に研究している方で、沖に出るまでに色々と教えてもらっていたので、ツアー参加後はちょっとしたクジラ博士になった気分。鯨の母親の愛情に感動しました。
ガイドさんからは私たちが訪問した12月はまだピークではなく2月が最高だと教えてもらいました。もし、その時期に行けるのであれば、是非、その時期に再びツアーに参加したいと思います。その時期は、あちこちで潮が吹き回っているのだとか。
船上の席については、先頭近くの1階の椅子を勧められました。こちらが一番、鯨を見るのが適しているのだとか。ツアーのほとんどの方は2階にあがっていましたが。何につけ、日本人ガイドさんに同乗してもらえると、同じツアー参加でも楽しさが倍増だなあ、と痛感した次第。可能であれば問い合わせてみてください。
最後に、私の失敗談。楽ちんワンピースを着て乗り込んだら、風がかなりキツくて参りました。恥ずかしいことですが。パンツが正解。正午のツアーはかなり日差しもきつく、遮るものもない海上のため日焼け止めも必須です。塗っていたのですが、それでもかなり焼けました。帽子は飛ぶかもしれずで脱いでいました。

伝統ルアウ＆フラ ハワイアンショー マウイの神話 ＜優先入場VIP席あり／ビュッフェ夕食／飲み放題／ロイヤル・ラハイナ・リゾート＞
楽しいひとときでした！

優先入場、前列席で、ゆったりと過ごすことができました。
日本人は私たちの家族だけ。ほとんど欧米の方々です。
夕焼けを見た後に本格的に夕食。星空に変わる中、ビュッフェ形式のお食事でした。正直、メニューの数は予想よりもかなり少なく、各一品は美味しいのですが、途中から少々飽きてきてしまいました。ただ、飲み物は飲み放題、メニューも多数のため、飲むのが好きな方には大満足かも。
ショー自体はサービス精神旺盛で会場中うけて笑いが起こっていました。欧米の方が多くノリが良いです。ただ3時間ちかくあるため、時間は少々長く感じます。肌寒いので、羽織りもんは必須。飲み物もほとんど冷たいものですので。
両親の感想ですが、二回、三回とは観なくてもよいが、1度は観ておきたいショーとのこと。
帰りがけに入場時に撮影した記念写真を販売していますが、映りが良ければ記念に購入しても。観光価格ですが両親は喜んでいました。
また滞在中はレンタカーを使用していましたが、飲酒するためホテルからはタクシーをお願いしました。ハワイも飲酒運転厳禁ですのでご注意を！！

くじらいっぱい見れました
Reviewed by: あらいぐま, 2020/01/03前日に予約しました。即時確約出来るのでとても便利でした。当時バウチャーの通りの時間(開始の30分前)にカウンターに行きましたが他に誰もいなくて10分前くらいに人が集まってきました。待つところは椅子もないし暑いので10分前くらいに行くので十分だと思います。船に乗り込み10分ほどするとすぐにくじらが塩を吹くのが見えました。ラナイ島の近くに行くまでに10頭くらいのクジラが見えました。1回だけジャンプしてお腹も全部見えましたが写真には撮れずで残念でした笑笑 くじらたくさん見られて大満足のツアーでした。

綺麗な星空と日の出でした。

お天気も良く日の出もとても綺麗でした。
山頂では風が強く、体感温度はかなり低かったです。ヒートテックにダウン、下は裏起毛のスウェットパンツでしたが寒くて足先の感覚は無くなりました。レッグウォーマーや手袋、毛糸の帽子等の準備はされた方が良いかも。
1人で参加、他に日本人はいませんでしたが、ツアーに参加される方も良い方ばかりで気さくに声をかけていただきました。
おかげで楽しいツアーになりました。

Fun crew. Great fun for the whole family

Saw whales and turtles and fish of course. Great day.

sexy sunrise ！
Reviewed by: fantastic, 2019/12/29太陽は、肝心なところで雲隠れしてしまいましたが、素晴らしいドライバー兼ガイドのネリさんの言によれば、5パーセント程度での確率でしか見ることの出来ないセクシーサンライズ！を拝むことが出来てラッキーでした。
とにかく、このハレアカラツアーで一人しかいないという女性ドライバーのネリさんは、ガイドはこの上なく上手く、ドライブテクニックも完璧でした。
さて、8月16日のツアーでしたが、とにかく寒くヒートテックのタートルネックにウルトラライトダウンを着込んでも震えが来るような体感温度でした。
耳あて、ホッカイロ、毛布ようなマント？のようなものも備えとしてあれば良かったかと思います。
なお、同乗者はドイツ、アメリカ(サンフランシスコ、シカゴなど)のメンバーでしたが、十分に楽しむことが出来ました。
英語のガイドですが、何となく半分程度は理解出来たと思いますが、特に問題はありませんでしたよ。

Spectacular Haleakala Sunrise Tour with Park Admission & Breakfast at Mill House
One Maui Morning

The experience to watch the sunrise over Maui and right above the clouds of Haleakala was absolutely amazing!! Shuttle ride up the mountain was perfect to take naps before arriving to the summit. Pick a spot along the fence line as soon as you can because it gets crowded very fast!!
Now...all visitors, PLEASE understand that you are a VISITOR into the home of Hawaiian Islanders, RESPECT their boundaries on their land!!! DO NOT hop over fence lines!! There are barriers for a reason!!
1) They are protecting their island plants and animals as they aren’t very many anymore.
2) STAY OFF SACRED LAND!!! They welcomed you into their home, respect the places you are not allowed to enter!!
Don’t be ignorant!! Respect the land you travel!
There were MANY ignorant people that even when the park representatives came out to get people back over the right side of the fence were ignored!
They opened their home and welcomed you so that you can experience an amazing view, enjoy it by appreciating their hospitality and respecting their boundaries.
The natives will chant as the sunrises, it would be nice for everyone to quiet the conversation and bask in the chant and take in this spectacular experience.

Lahaina Kayaking Adventure & Snorkeling Tour - Maui Ocean Sports
Swam with the turtles and enjoyed the scenery on the kayak

Out tour guide was super knowledgeable about the corals, the locals, and the general are that we kayaked. Our tour guide was friendly and catered towards our needs. We both got motion sick while kayaking so be prepared if you're sensitive to movement. The morning we went was beautiful and we didn't hit any waves but there was a constant bobbing of the water that made us feel seasick. We saw a lot of fish while snorkelling. Our favourite part was swimming beside the sea turtles. Overall, it was an amazing experience and worth trying if it's your first time! I am not a strong swimmer but this was an amazing opportunity to see the sea life! It got a little chilly while snorkelling as there were different currents circulating. Also, Lahaina has a lot of fun shops and is a tourist spot to check out if you have time!

Road to Hana Private Tours with Nature Walk and Local Expert Guide

Reviewed by: Jake, 2019/12/21This tour was so fun. We had a really nice driver that talked about the culture and history of Maui, and she even asked my wife and I questions about ourselves. She knew all the best places to stop & take pictures, eat banana bread, and what literally every plant was. She was truly and expert guide. At one point, she stopped at a waterfall for us to look at, and she said we could jump off of it and she'd take a video of us. And we did!! It was SO fun. Wow. I would do this again. Anyone who goes might want to bring a change of clothes/a towel in case you want to go for a swim!

バッチリくじらが見れました

急にもかかわらず、日本人通訳の事のお返事頂きありがとうございました。結局、朝早かったので、無理でしたが、とても素晴らしいホエールウォッチングになり感動しました。
何度も船に乗ってますが、ジャンプの写真が撮れたのは、久しぶりです。
スマホで撮ったのでボケてますが、見れたこと、撮れたことに感動です。

残念ながら晴れなかった。でも！
Reviewed by: ゆきやま, 2019/12/11マウイに行ったら絶対行きたかったハレアカラ山！ご来光はお天気の加減できれいに見えませんでした。でも雲海が素晴らしくてそれもまた神秘的でした。全て英語での説明。一応オーディオガイドもお借りできます。ガイドさんは私たち日本人夫婦をとてもよく気遣ってくださり、たくさん話しかけてくれました。全く英語が話せない主人も楽しんでいました。朝食のパンケーキもとても美味しかったです。次マウイに行く時はご来光がみれますように！

Reviewed by: つるママ, 2019/12/10早朝？というか夜中のピックアップで少し心配でしたが、予定より早く来てもらい安心しました。英語のツアーなので不安でしたが、温かい対応でほっとしました。また、バスを乗り換え、運転手兼ガイド、Neliが最高でした！！
半分ぐらいしかわからなかったのが残念でしたが、ハワイの大切なこととか（多分・・笑）話してくれるのですが、こちらが引き込まれるような語り方に、ハレアカラの幻想的な自然と相まって不思議な体験ができました。また、日の出の時には、チャントを唱えてくれてそれだけで涙が出そうでした。本当にいいツアーでした。山を下りてからの朝食も、目の前にハレアカラを望みながら、雰囲気のいいところでおいしく頂けました。MAHALO Nui Loa!!

Aloha Blue Charters Maui Bottom Fishing Charter from Maalaea Harbor
Overpriced
Reviewed by: Elizabeth , 2019/12/06I chose this excursion for my husband and older teenage son because they both LOVE fishing. The reviews were awesome and the description stated the excursion was 4.5 hours. Unfortunately this experience underdelivered. Opposite of other reviews, my boys didn’t catch a single thing. The other guests on the boat only caught small fish and not many of them. I understand that this is difficult to control; however this trip was rather expensive and it was described as if the captain and crew would know exactly where to go to find fish. Additionally, the excursion lasted barely 4 hours after take off. Although not discussed, I would also like to suggest that you take smaller crews and have an age limit...perhaps 13 and older and another experience for those under 13.

Reviewed by: やーさん, 2019/12/05日本語ツァーに申し込み希望でしたが、満席でキャンセルもなかったので、仕方なく英語ツァーに参加しましたが、結果的にはこれが大正解でした。
バンは大型で1人で2席が使えるほど人数に比べゆったりとしており、説明も日本語のタブレットを貸していただいたので、英語の不安はなくなりました。
食事もゴルフ場のカフェで温かい美味しくいただきました。
ただ、当日はあいにくの雨天で途中は雲の中を走っているようで周りの景色は見えませんでしたが、頂上に着くと短時間でしたが雲も去り、クレーターと夕陽を堪能できました。
英語ツァーは夕陽までで星空を見ないで帰ってしまいますが、この日は雲で星が見えなかったと思えるので、残念には感じませんでした。
頂上は寒いので防寒はしっかりいておいた方が良いですよ。短パン・半袖シャツで参加されていた方は、運転の方のヤッケを借りましたが寒そうでした。
なお、頂上で日本語ツァーの車を見かけましたが、英語ツァーに比べると小型で、かつ満席で窮屈だったのかなと思えました。
車酔いするかたは、英語ツァーの大きなバンがお薦めです。

高いお金を払て参加するツアーではなかったなという感想です。
ラナイ島はラハイナから見るだけで十分でした。

Expeditions - Maui to Lanai Ferry Boat Shuttle from Maalaea Harbor & Manele Bay
