Exhilarating and satisfying
What an exhilarating and satisfying experience!
On the morning of my ride, it rained so heavily that we almost did not go out for safety reasons; fortunately, Dale (the owner) was kind enough to offer to reschedule the ride if the weather clears up-- and it did! I met my guide Maia and my horse, got some socks and boots, and off we went. I immediately felt comfortable and happy to be on the trails. We followed a pretty backcountry trail, alternating between walking, trotting, and cantering. Along the way I learned about flowers and fruit that grew in the path, and even sampled some of it fresh from the tree! Maia was very knowledgeable about nature and history of the area, friendly, and able to adjust the ride to my level of riding expertise. It felt just like riding at home with friends, albeit with a much prettier backdrop! The horse was clearly well cared for, obedient, and lively-- a welcome contrast to the sleepy, apathetic horses of most commercial ranches. This was by far the b
