So-so, but was hoping for more
We signed up for this tour because it seemed unique among the typical offerings. We were hoping to get to try food unique to Hawaii that we couldn't get elsewhere. We were also hoping to try some of the "hole-in-the-wall" places that locals go to but typical tourists wouldn't know about. We hit the mark with our first stop, a small bakery called Leonard's that specialized in malasadas (Portuguese donut). Fresh and delicious, and I definitely would never know to try a place like Leonard's. Unfortunately, that first stop was the high point of the tour. Our second stop was a Farmer's Market, supposedly to try poke (raw fish) and kalua pork, although our guide, Francis, only arrived with the poke. Our next stop was Chinatown for cha siu bow (pork buns). They were tasty, but we've had pork buns here in California many times. Our next stop was supposed to be a Vietnamese restaurant for Pho, but the restaurant was closed for several weeks as the owners were on vacation - apparently t
